AGORA: Access to Global Online Research on Agriculture is an initiative of Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations(FAO) with a number of publishing partners. AGORA provides a collection of up to 6,100 key journals and 5,800 books to 2,900 institutions in more than 100 countries. AGORA is designed to enhance the scholarship of the many thousands of students, faculty and researchers in agriculture and life sciences in the developing world. AGORA is one of the four programmes that make up Research4Life: AGORA, HINARI, OARE and ARDI.

ERIC: The Education Resources Information Center (ERIC), of the Institution of Education Sciences, is the largest education database in the world-containing over 1.5 million records of journal articles, research reports, curriculum and teaching guides, conference papers, dissertations and theses, and books.  It allows you to search by topic for material related to the field of education.

RESEARCH4LIFE: Health Internetwork Access to Research Initiative Programme was set up by the World Health Organization and major publishers. It provides access to one of the world’s largest collections of biomedical and health literature. Up to 14,000 e- journals (in 30 different languages), 46,000 e-books, and 100 other information resources are now available to health institutions in more than 100 countries, areas and territories benefiting many thousands of health workers and researchers, and in turn, contributing to improve world health.

 CORE: CORE is a multidisciplinary aggregator of open access research. It allows users to search more than 66 million open access articles. While most of this link to the full-text article on the original publisher’s site, five million records are hosted directly on CORE. In addition to a straightforward keyword search, CORE offers advanced search options to filter results by publication type, year, language, journal, repository, and author.

 TEEAL: The Essential Electronic Agriculture Library is a searchable, offline, digital library which contains mainly agriculturally focused reference journals, as well as coverage in related subject areas. The collection is updated annually. This is available for installation in the ICT section of the FUOYE library

PLOS ONE: PLOSE ONE provides a free access platform to everyone searching for science-related information. All the articles publish on PLOS ONE are published after going through a strict peer-reviewed process.

ARDI: Access to Research Development and Innovation program is a partnership between the World Intellectual Property Organization and major scientific and technical publishers. The stated objective of ARDI is to “promote the integration of developing countries into the global knowledge economy, allowing them to more fully realize their creative potential.” Currently, 17 publishers provide access to around 20,000 journals, books, and reference works for 117 developing countries and territories through ARDI.

NATIONAL VIRTUAL LIBRARY: The National Virtual Library Project is an online digital library presently hosted and managed by the National Universities Commission (NUC). The Virtual Library was designed and deployed with support and funding from the Education Trust Fund (ETF), UNESCO and the Japanese government. The goal is to ensure that user (subscribers) have the latest publications of the highest calibre in their respective fields (the Arts, Medical Sciences, Pure Science, Social Sciences, Technology, etc…) to facilitate teaching, research and learning.

It indexes more than 10,000 open access journals covering all areas of science, technology, medicine, social science and humanities. SCOPUS: This is a bibliographic database containing abstracts and citations for academic journal articles.  MIT OPEN COURSEWARE: MIT Open Courseware (MIT OCW) is an initiative of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) to put all of the educational materials from its undergraduate– and graduate-level courses online. It is a large-scale, web-based publication of MIT course materials. This provides access to over 2,800 courses online. While a few of these were limited to chronological reading lists and discussion topics, a majority provided homework problems and exams (often with solutions) and lecture notes. Some courses also included interactive web demonstrations in Java, complete textbooks written by MIT professors, and streaming video lectures.
